The Thriprayar Sree Rama Temple is situated in Triprayar, Thrissur district, Kerala, India. It is located on the banks of the Theevra River (also known as Purayar or Thirupurayar).

 Thriprayar Sree Rama Temple

The principal deity of the Thriprayar Temple is Lord Sree Rama, affectionately known as Triprayarappan or Triprayar Thevar. The Thriprayar Sree Rama Temple holds immense spiritual significance, primarily as the first and most important temple in the Nalambalam pilgrimage.

This unique pilgrimage involves visiting four temples dedicated to Lord Rama and his brothers (Bharata, Lakshmana, and Shatrughna) on a single day, particularly auspicious during the Malayalam month of Karkidakam (July-August). The deity's form as Khara Samhara Moorthy signifies his immense power. A distinctive ritual, 'Meen Oottu' (feeding fish) in the adjacent Theevra River, is believed to cure ailments like asthma and appease the ancestors.

Furthermore, Triprayar Thevar is the presiding deity of the grand Arattupuzha Pooram, one of Kerala's oldest and most spectacular temple festivals, underscoring its pivotal role in the region's cultural and religious landscape.

Festivals

The Temple has a number of festivals. The important ones are :

Vrischika Ekadasi (Triprayar Ekadasi)
This is the main and most celebrated festival of the temple, held in the Malayalam month of Vrischika (November-December) on the Ekadasi (11th day after the new moon). The festival is marked by grand processions, including the deity being taken out with around 21 caparisoned elephants and traditional percussion ensembles (Melam). Thousands of devotees gather to witness these magnificent celebrations.

Pooram Purappadu & Uthram Vilakku
The Annual Pooram festival takes place in the Malayalam month of Meenam (March-April) and lasts for seven days. The festival includes the Pooram Purappadu ritual and the Uthram Vilakku. Thriprayar Thevar is also the presiding deity of the renowned Arattupuzha Pooram, one of the oldest temple festivals in India, and participates in its grand procession.
