വയനാട്ടിലെ വള്ളിയൂർക്കാവ് ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ മഹോത്സവം മാർച്ച്-ഏപ്രിൽ (മീനം) മാസങ്ങളിൽ നടക്കുന്ന 14 ദിവസത്തെ വാർഷിക ഉത്സവമാണ്, ഗംഭീരമായ ആചാരങ്ങളും നാടോടി പ്രകടനങ്ങളും സാംസ്കാരിക പരിപാടികളും ചടുലമായ ക്ഷേത്ര ഘോഷയാത്രകളും ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു.

Valliyoorkavu Bhagavathy Temple is a temple dedicated to Goddess Durga and is a prominent place of worship, especially for tribal communities in Wayanad. Here the Mother Goddess Durga manifests in
three major forms of Vana Durga, Bhadrakali, and Jala Durga. Mahotsavam is an annual festival
conducted in Valliyoorkavu Bhagavathy Temple in commemoration of the victory of Goddess over the
mighty demon Daruka.

The festival is a grand celebration and attracts several tribal
communities in the region. Kodiyettu, the hoisting of flag
marks the beginning of the festival. As a part of the festival,
a procession to the Valiyakavu is held. Elephants, Theru,
Pazhakkavadi, Karakam (Ammankudam) and Thalappoli are
part of the procession. Kalamezhuth is a traditional
sacrament performed during the festival. Cultural Programs,
Temple Arts, etc are staged during the festival. Arattu of the
deity in the temple pond marks the end of the festival.
