The festival typically spans several days and includes rituals such as Kodiyettam, special poojas, Abhishekam, and Maha Deeparadhana. On the concluding day, the sacred Aarattu is performed, accompanied by devotional music, cultural programs, and offerings by devotees. During the Utsavam, devotees also participate in annadanam and various traditional ceremonies, making it a spiritually enriching and culturally vibrant celebration in the region.
On the Krishnavathara Day of the yajna, devotees offer Thrikkai Venna seeking success in studies and fulfillment of desires. Students perform the Vidya Gopala Pooja, praying for academic excellence. The Vastra Pooja conducted on the day of Rukmini Swayamvara is considered highly auspicious; unmarried devotees wear the blessed clothes for marriage blessings, while married couples wear them for a harmonious and prosperous life. Many devotees testify to its benefits. On the Kuchela Day, devotees offer Aval Kizhi to the Lord as an offering to overcome poverty and difficulties. The yajna concludes on the seventh day with the sacred Avabhritha Snanam (Aarattu). The next day, on the Thiruvonam star of the Meenam month, the temple’s grand festival, Meena Thiruvona Mahotsavam, begins. This five-day celebration includes various rituals such as Avathara Poojas, Kalasha Pooja, Kalabhabhishekam, Sudharshana Homam, Bhagavathi Seva, Kalamezhuthu Pattu, Navagraha Pooja, and Shaneeshwara Pooja.

On the fourth day, the deity’s majestic procession on the elephant, Aanayottu Purappadu, takes place. Devotees from the region welcome the Lord with lamps, decorations, and offerings of devotion. On the final day, devotees offer the Lord’s favorite Paal Payasam as Pongala. To remove serpent-related obstacles and seek the blessings of the Snake Deities, devotees perform the Nagaroottu ritual at the shrine of Nagaraja.
In the evening, young girls offer Thalappoli at the Devi shrine. The following day, at 4 a.m., with the early morning procession and Mangala Pooja, the festival concludes. Devotees believe that witnessing the Nirmalya Darshanam on all Sapthaha days and attending the final day’s Mangala Pooja brings immense divine blessings and prosperity. Annadanam and various poojas are also conducted throughout these days as offerings by devotees.
