Punahprathishta Varshika Mahotsavam at Thottunadakavu Thampuran Devi Temple, Trivandrum is one of the most significant and vibrant religious festivals in Kerala celebrated with great devotion and traditional grandeur. This annual festival marks the reinstallation of the deity and brings together devotees from across the region to witness and participate in a series of sacred rituals and cultural events. During the festival, the temple premises come alive with the rhythmic sounds of traditional Kerala instruments, the fragrance of incense and the vibrant display of floral decorations. The rituals begin with the opening of the temple and the sacred viewing of the deity known as Nirmalyadarshanam. Devotees offer their prayers and witness the Abhishekam, a ceremonial bath of the deity using holy substances accompanied by Malarnivedyam, the offering of flowers.

A central part of the celebrations includes the Ganapathi Homam, a fire ritual dedicated to Lord Ganesha for the removal of obstacles and blessings of prosperity. Kalasha Pooja and Kalasha Abhishekam are performed for the main deity and the sub deities while special homams like Mrityunjaya Homam and Aikyamathyasooktha Homam invoke divine protection and well-being. The festival also features Sandhya Deeparadhana, the evening lamp worship which creates a mesmerizing spiritual ambiance and Pushpabhishekam the offering of flowers to the deity in devotion. Apart from the rituals, the festival fosters a sense of community as devotees come together to participate in Annadanam, the offering of food to hundreds of visitors.
