The Thrikkodiyetum Thottampattu Mahotsavam is one of the most anticipated and vibrant annual festivals celebrated at the Parandode Sree Bhagavathy Temple in Trivandrum. Scheduled from January 15 to 24, 2026, this festival brings together devotees, cultural enthusiasts and tourists to witness an extraordinary blend of religious devotion, traditional rituals and local art forms.
The festival marks a period of spiritual significance in the temple calendar offering devotees an opportunity to seek blessings from the presiding deity, Sree Bhagavathy through various ceremonies and offerings.
The festivities commence with the Thrikkodiyet a symbolic ritual that officially inaugurates the festival signaling the start of a series of religious and cultural events. Following this, devotees actively participate in Kalam Pongal, a ritual where colorful floor drawings known as kalams are created to honor the deity accompanied by offerings and chants. One of the festival’s main highlights is Kuthiyottam a unique traditional performance that involves intricate rituals, physical discipline and devotional fervor drawing the attention of devotees from across the region.
Another significant ritual is the Thirumudi procession, where the sacred crown of the deity is ceremoniously carried accompanied by traditional music, percussion instruments and chants creating a mesmerizing spiritual atmosphere. The festival also includes a community feast bringing people together in a spirit of unity, devotion and celebration. The concluding event, Aarattu involves the ceremonial holy bath of the deity in the temple pond, symbolizing purification and divine blessings for the community.
