തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തെ കാട്ടുനട ശ്രീ ഭദ്രകാളി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ 19 ദിവസത്തെ തൂക്ക മഹോത്സവം മലയാള മാസമായ മീനത്തിൽ (മാർച്ച്-ഏപ്രിൽ) നടക്കുന്ന ഒരു മഹത്തായ വാർഷിക ഉത്സവമാണ്, പവിത്രമായ ആചാരങ്ങളും പരമ്പരാഗത പ്രകടനങ്ങളും ചടുലമായ ആഘോഷങ്ങളും ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു.

Thooka Mahotsavam is an annual festival at the Sree Bhadrakali Temple situated in Mangalathukonam of Trivandrum District. The ancient temple devoted to Goddess Bhadrakali in Shaantha Roopa is spread
over an area of 2 acres. The Thooka Mahotsavam is a 19 days festival of divinity and celebration which
is a crowd pulling event. It is conducted in the Malayalam month of Meenam (March April) with a very
wide variety of spiritual and cultural activities. During festival days, men devotees become servants of
Goddess Bhadrakali and they stay at the temple to take part in their Thookkam.

The 19-day festival starts with Thrikkodiyettu or the flag
hoisting indicating commencement of the festival. A number
of rituals like Vilakkezhunnallippu, Thirumudi Ezhunellippu,
Thookkam etc take place as an integral part of the
celebrations. Pongala is offered to the Goddess who is
believed to be in her calm self at this temple. This ritualistic
offering to the Goddess is a thanksgiving as well as to seek
her blessings for prosperity and well being. Pongala is
offered on the 17th day of the festival. This is followed by
Thirumudi Ezhunellipp, Thookkam and Aarattu on the 19th
day. Various cultural events and religious discourse are
organized during the festival days.
