2026 ലെ തൂക്കമഹോത്സവം തിരുവനന്തപുരം കാട്ടുനട ശ്രീഭദ്രകാളി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ മാർച്ച് 25 ബുധനാഴ്ച മുതൽ ഏപ്രിൽ 12 ഞായറാഴ്ച വരെ ആഘോഷിക്കപ്പെടും, ഇവിടെ പരമ്പരാഗത ചടങ്ങുകൾ, തങ്കത്തിരുമുടി എഴുന്നള്ളിപ്പുകൾ, നിറവേറുന്ന സാംസ്കാരിക ഉത്സവങ്ങൾ എന്നിവ ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കും.

Thookam Mahotsavam at Kattunada Sree Bhadrakali Temple is one of the most vibrant and revered festivals in Kerala, celebrated with unmatched devotion and grandeur. The festival is dedicated to Sree Bhadrakali, the powerful mother goddess and is marked by a unique blend of spiritual rituals, cultural performances and traditional Kerala art forms.
The festival begins with Ganapathi Homam and Usha Pooja invoking the blessings of Lord Ganesha and the Goddess. One of the central highlights is the Thangathirumudi Procession where the sacred golden crown is carried in a grand procession accompanied by Chenda Melam, Panchavadyam, Nagaswaram, Neyyandi Melam, Thalappoli, and Muthukudams. This vibrant parade through the temple premises creates an atmosphere of divine celebration with devotees enthusiastically welcoming the sacred symbols of the goddess.
Another iconic feature of the festival is the Thookam ritual, a centuries-old tradition unique to the Bhadrakali temples of Kerala. The ritual involves symbolic acts of devotion and penance expressing surrender to the goddess and seeking her blessings for protection, prosperity, and well-being. The Thookam is accompanied by devotional music, folk songs, and rhythmic drum beats creating a mesmerizing and spiritual experience for participants and onlookers alike.
Throughout the festival, the temple hosts Uchcha Poojas, Deeparadhana, Annadanam and evening Bhajan sessions drawing devotees from across the region. Cultural programs such as folk dances, traditional martial arts, Thiruvathira, Kaikottikali, and stage performances are staged every evening, showcasing the rich heritage and artistic traditions of Kerala. Music performances including both classical and contemporary devotional renditions add to the festive spirit.
