The 16th Punaprathishta Varshikam 2026 at Thazhaykkattu Panchiyamma Temple, Trivandrum is a sacred and spiritually significant annual celebration that reflects the deep devotion and cultural heritage of Kerala temple traditions. This auspicious occasion marks the re-consecration anniversary of the temple deity, Goddess Panchiyamma, who is worshipped as a powerful form of Bhadrakali, bestowing protection, prosperity and divine grace upon all devotees.
The festival is observed with great devotion and elaborate rituals conducted in accordance with traditional Vedic and Tantric customs. The day begins with the highly sacred Maha Ganapathi Homam, performed to remove obstacles and invoke divine blessings for peace and success in life. This is followed by the Kalasha Pooja, which enhances the spiritual energy of the temple and purifies the surroundings, creating an atmosphere of divine harmony.
One of the most important rituals of the celebration is the Aishwarya Pooja which is dedicated to seeking prosperity, good health and overall well being for devotees and their families. The Bhagavathi Seva is another key ritual, offered with deep reverence to the Goddess to receive her protective blessings and fulfill devotees’ wishes.
The cultural richness of Kerala is beautifully reflected through Kalam Ezhuthu & Paattu, a traditional ritual art form where intricate floor drawings of the deity are created using natural powders, accompanied by devotional songs that narrate divine stories and praises. The festival also includes Kanji Sadya, a community feast that symbolizes unity, equality and the spirit of sharing among devotees.
