The Anad Peringavoor Sri Bala Subrahmanya Swami Temple in Trivandrum is renowned for its vibrant and spiritually uplifting festivals, and among the most significant is the Family Welfare Pushpanjali, Ney Vilakku Samarpanavum and Tattanivedyam celebrated every Vishu.
This annual festival is dedicated to Lord Subrahmanya, the revered deity of strength, wisdom, and protection. Devotees from Trivandrum and surrounding areas gather to participate in this sacred event seeking blessings for family harmony, prosperity and overall well being.
The festival is marked by the offering of Pushpanjali symbolizing devotion and gratitude alongside the Ney Vilakku offering which represents the dispelling of darkness and the illumination of life with divine light. Tattanivedyam, a special food offering prepared according to temple customs is also presented to the deity as a sign of reverence and spiritual surrender. Each of these rituals is performed under the guidance of the temple Tantri ensuring adherence to the traditional temple practices and Vedic mantras.
Participating families have the opportunity to have their names and stars included in the worship making the rituals highly personal and meaningful. Devotees believe that performing these offerings brings unity, health and prosperity to the family while also helping overcome obstacles and doshas. The festival begins in the early morning with sacred prayers and continues throughout the day with various pujas, homams, and Archanas creating a spiritually charged atmosphere within the temple premises.
