The 9th Punahprathista Varshikam & Koda Mahotsavam at Sreemadan Thampuran Isshaki Amman Temple, Powdikkonam, Thiruvananthapuram is a grand and spiritually significant festival that brings together devotees from various places to celebrate faith, tradition and devotion.
This auspicious occasion marks the annual re-installation anniversary of the temple deity along with the ceremonial Kodi Mahotsavam which is conducted with elaborate rituals, poojas and cultural programs that reflect the rich heritage of Kerala temple traditions.
The festival begins with sacred rituals such as Nirmalya Darshan, Ganapathi Homam and special poojas performed by learned priests and temple tanthris. These rituals are believed to purify the surroundings and invoke divine blessings for the devotees. Throughout the festival days, various traditional art forms such as Neyyandi Melam, Chenda Melam, Kombu Pattu and Villupattu are performed creating a vibrant and devotional atmosphere within the temple premises.
One of the key highlights of the festival is the grand procession where the deity is taken out in a beautifully decorated ceremonial procession accompanied by traditional percussion ensembles, Thalappoli and devotional chants. Devotees actively participate in this procession, offering prayers and receiving blessings from the divine presence.
The festival also includes Annadanam where hundreds of devotees are served food as a sacred offering. Special poojas such as Maha Ganapathi Homam, Kalasha Pooja and other ritual offerings are conducted to seek prosperity, health and spiritual upliftment for all participants.
