The Prathista Varshika Mahotsavam & Pongala 2026 at Keezhathil Sree Bhadra Devi Temple, Trivandrum is a highly anticipated annual celebration that brings together devotees and visitors from across Kerala and beyond. Prathista Varshika Mahotsavam & Pongala 2026 Keezhathil Sree Bhadra Devi Temple Trivandrum Kerala The festival begins each day with the Palliyunarthal the ritualistic flag hoisting followed by the opening of the sanctum for Nirmalya Darshanam. Devotees witness the sacred Abhishekam and the Ashtadravya Mahaganapathi Homam which is a special fire ritual involving eight sacred offerings seeking blessings for prosperity and protection. Other important rituals include the Mrityunjaya Homam, Bhasma Abhishekam, Nagaroot and Kalashapuja each conducted with great devotion and adherence to traditional practices.

A highlight of the festival is the Pongala, a unique offering prepared by women devotees in the temple courtyard symbolizing their devotion and gratitude to the Devi. The festival also features Thalappoli processions where the Devi is adorned and taken out to receive the offerings creating a mesmerizing display of lights, music and devotion. Cultural programs, including traditional dances like Thiruvathira, folk performances, bhajans and dance presentations by local academies, complement the spiritual rituals making the celebration a complete experience of devotion and culture. Community Annadanam is conducted on all three days allowing devotees to partake in the sacred meal. The festival also emphasizes participation from all devotees in offering Neerpar and Narangavilakku in the evenings for fulfillment of wishes.
