The Attukal Pongala Mahotsavam 2027 will be celebrated from 14 February to 23 February 2027 at the revered Attukal Bhagavathy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram. Spanning ten days, the festival is filled with sacred rituals, devotional ceremonies, cultural performances, and traditional temple customs. Thousands of devotees gather each day to participate in the celebrations and seek the blessings of Goddess Attukal Bhagavathy. The festival reaches its spiritual peak on 22 February 2027 (Monday) with the world-famous Attukal Pongala, when lakhs of women prepare the sacred offering in earthen pots as an expression of devotion and gratitude.

Major Events
Kappukettu – 14 February 2027 | 11:40 AM
The festival begins with the sacred Kappukettu ceremony, during which the ceremonial thread is tied, marking the official commencement of the ten-day Mahotsavam. This ritual symbolizes divine protection and the beginning of the spiritual observances.

Aduppu Vettu – 10:00 AM
The Aduppu Vettu ceremony marks the preparation of the traditional hearths for the Pongala offering. It signifies the readiness of devotees to perform the sacred ritual with devotion and purity.

Attukal Pongala – 22 February 2027 (Monday)
The Attukal Pongala is the most significant event of the festival. Lakhs of women devotees prepare the sacred Pongala offering using rice, jaggery, coconut, and other ingredients in earthen pots, praying for prosperity, health, happiness, and the blessings of Goddess Attukal Bhagavathy.

Pongala Nivedyam – 2:20 PM
After the Pongala offering is prepared, it is formally offered to the Goddess during the Pongala Nivedyam ceremony. The offerings are blessed and distributed among the devotees as sacred prasadam.
