2026 ഫെബ്രുവരി 15 മുതൽ 17 വരെ വെള്ളായണി ദേവീക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നടക്കുന്ന കാളിയൂട്ടു മഹോത്സവം, മാർച്ച് 21 (അശ്വതി പൊങ്കാല) மற்றும் ഏപ്രിൽ 22 (പ്രണേത) പ്രത്യേക ചടങ്ങുകളോടെ തുടര്ന്ന് ആഘോഷിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന പ്രാചീന പരമ്പരാഗത ഉത്സവമാണ്, ഇതിൽ ഹരിഭക്തി, സംഗീതം, നൃത്തം, സാംസ്കാരിക പരിപാടികൾ എന്നിവ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു.

The Pallichal Dikubali 2026 at the Vellayani Devi Temple in Trivandrum, Kerala is one of the most anticipated and historically significant temple festivals in the region.
This festival is dedicated to Vellayani Amma, the revered mother goddess who is believed to bless her devotees with prosperity, health and protection from evil. Kaliyoottu, literally meaning “the play of the goddess Kali” is a unique ritual performance that combines devotion, mythology, and local cultural traditions making it a fascinating experience for devotees and visitors alike.
The festival spans several weeks, beginning with Purattezhunnallath a ceremonial procession where the deity is taken out of the sanctum and paraded with traditional rituals and music. This is followed by elaborate offerings, devotional songs and cultural performances that include traditional art forms such as Thayambaka, Kathakali and folk dances.
One of the highlights of the festival is Ponkala, a ritualistic offering of sweet rice porridge prepared by thousands of women devotees in specially arranged temple spaces. This offering is made to seek the goddess’s blessings and to fulfill personal vows.
Apart from the main religious activities, the festival also showcases the rich cultural heritage of Kerala. Devotees from across the state and beyond gather to witness the temple decorated with vibrant floral arrangements, traditional lamps and colorful ceremonial ornaments. The festival fosters a deep sense of community, spirituality and cultural pride attracting families, scholars and tourists who wish to experience Kerala’s unique temple traditions firsthand.
