തിരുവനന്തപുരം മേനംകുളം ശ്രീ പാൽക്കര ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ തൂക്കം മഹോത്സവം 2026 മാർച്ച് 25 മുതൽ 31 വരെ ഭക്തിപൂർവ്വം ആഘോഷിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു; പൊങ്കാല, തൂക്കം ചടങ്ങ്, ആറാട്ട് എഴുന്നള്ളത്ത്, വിവിധ ആചാരാനുഷ്ഠാനങ്ങൾ, സാംസ്കാരിക പരിപാടികൾ എന്നിവയോടുകൂടി മഹോത്സവം നടക്കുന്നു.

Thookkam Mahotsavam at Sree Palkara Bhagavathy Temple, Menamkulam, Trivandrum is one of the most revered annual festivals celebrated with deep devotion, vibrant rituals and rich cultural heritage.
Popularly known as the Elayil Temple, this sacred shrine is unique as Sree Durga Devi and Sree Bhadra Devi are consecrated within a single nalambalam radiating divine energy and blessings to devotees from across the region.
The festival is dedicated to the powerful manifestation of the Goddess and is observed in accordance with traditional temple customs and Tantric rituals. The sacred ceremonies begin in the early hours of the morning with Palliyunarthal followed by Nirmalya Darshan, Abhishekam, Ganapathi Homam and Usha Pooja. Throughout the festival days, special offerings, Kalasa Poojas, Pushpabhishekam and Deeparadhana are conducted with strict adherence to temple traditions under the guidance of the temple Thantri and Melshanthi.
One of the most significant highlights of the festival is the Thookkam ritual, a rare and powerful devotional offering symbolizing surrender, faith and fulfillment of vows. Devotees participate with unwavering devotion seeking the blessings of the Goddess for protection, prosperity, and well-being. The Pongala ritual, Devi Bhagavatham recitation, Aarattu procession and ceremonial Thalappoli further enhance the spiritual atmosphere of the temple premises.
In addition to the sacred rituals, the festival is enriched with traditional temple art forms and cultural performances. Sopana Sangeetham, Nadaswaram, Panchavadyam, Thottampattu, devotional bhajans, classical dance performances, orchestra programs, and musical evenings bring together spirituality and artistic excellence. These performances are conducted while maintaining temple decorum and cultural authenticity.
