The festival begins with auspicious rituals that mark the invocation of the deity’s presence followed by a series of daily poojas and ceremonial offerings. One of the key highlights of Ooruttu Mahotsavam is the traditional procession where the deity is taken out in a grand and beautifully decorated procession accompanied by rhythmic temple percussion, devotional music and vibrant participation from devotees. The spiritual atmosphere created during these processions is deeply moving and draws large gatherings from nearby regions.
