Thaliyal Sree Mahadeva Temple in Trivandrum is renowned for its grand celebrations and devotion filled rituals and the 2026 festival is set to continue this sacred tradition with the Nirapara Samarpanam and Sapthadina Bhagavata Parayanam.
The festival spans seven days beginning with early morning Hari Nama Keerthanam where devotees joyfully chant the holy names of Lord Shiva filling the temple premises with an atmosphere of divine energy.
Each day starts with the Ganapati Homam, invoking Lord Ganesha’s blessings for the successful conduct of all rituals followed by Ushah Pooja a serene morning worship performed at the sanctum.
During this period, the deity is ceremoniously brought to the Nandieshwaramandapam for the Nirapara Samarpanam a sacred offering of rice in traditional measures symbolizing gratitude and devotion. The Bhagavata Parayanam, a recitation of the Bhagavata Purana, continues throughout the day, accompanied by chanting and devotional music, creating a spiritually uplifting environment for all participants. Midday is marked by Annadanam the offering of meals to devotees and visitors reflecting the temple’s commitment to service and community.
The festival culminates with the grand Grama Pradakshinam a ceremonial procession of the deity through nearby villages. Lord Sree Mahadeva is carried on a decorated elephant accompanied by traditional percussion ensembles and ritual lamps allowing devotees to participate in the offering of Anchu Vilakku and Panchadravya Samarpanam. The evening concludes with Deepa Aradhana, ritual lamp worship and Bhootikalaśa Abhishekam followed by vibrant fireworks creating a spectacular finale.
