Marukoda Mahotsavam at Vizhinjam Mukkola Muduppara Sree Durga Bhagavathi Temple is one of the most celebrated and spiritually vibrant festivals in the region of Trivandrum. Dedicated to Goddess Durga Bhagavathi, this temple festival attracts devotees from near and far offering them an opportunity to immerse themselves in devotion, cultural traditions and community spirit.
The festival is marked by a series of meticulously planned rituals and ceremonies each reflecting the rich spiritual heritage of Kerala.
The day begins with the sacred Aditya Pongala, a ritualistic offering to the Sun God followed by the Koott Ganapathi Homam and Sudarshana Homam, performed to invoke blessings of prosperity, protection and well being for all devotees. These homams are conducted with precision by experienced priests accompanied by chants and traditional temple music that enhance the spiritual atmosphere.
Throughout the festival, the Goddess is worshipped with various offerings including Pushpabhishekam where flowers are ceremoniously offered to the deity symbolizing purity, devotion and love. The temple also organizes Annadanam, a community meal for devotees emphasizing the temple’s commitment to service and social harmony. Special poojas such as Ucha Pooja and evening Alankara Deeparadhana highlight the divine grace of the Goddess, beautifully adorned with lights and decorations creating a mesmerizing spiritual ambiance.
