Makayira Mahotsavam 2026 is one of the most celebrated annual festivals at the Thekkumkara Parandode Sree Bhagavathy Temple in Trivandrum, Kerala. This auspicious festival spans eight days, from February 19 to 26, 2026 and draws devotees from across the region who come to seek the blessings of Goddess Bhagavathy.
The festival is marked by a series of elaborate rituals, traditional ceremonies and cultural performances that reflect the rich heritage and spiritual traditions of Kerala.
Each day of the Mahotsavam begins with morning poojas and rituals followed by special offerings and homams to invoke divine blessings for health, prosperity and well being. The temple premises are beautifully decorated with traditional lamps, floral arrangements and intricate kolams creating a serene and devotional ambiance for devotees.
One of the highlights of the festival is the grand processions of the deity accompanied by traditional percussion ensembles, Nadaswaram music and other folk performances that showcase Kerala’s vibrant cultural heritage.
Throughout the festival, various art forms such as Kathakali, Ottamthullal and classical music concerts are performed engaging devotees and visitors in a spiritual as well as cultural experience. Annadanam, the sacred food offering is conducted daily feeding hundreds of devotees and emphasizing the spirit of community service and devotion.
