തിരുക്കൊടിയേറ്റ് മഹോത്സവം മടവൂർ ശ്രീമഹാദേവർ ക്ഷേത്രം തിരുവനന്തപുരം | Thirukodiyettu Mahotsavam 2026 Madavoor Sree Mahadeva Temple Trivandrum
The Thirukodiyettu Mahotsavam 2026 at Madavoor Sree Mahadeva Temple in Trivandrum is a grand annual temple festival dedicated to Lord Shiva, celebrated with deep devotion, cultural richness, and traditional Kerala temple rituals. This sacred festival transforms the temple premises into a vibrant spiritual hub where thousands of devotees gather to experience divine blessings, participate in rituals and witness the rich heritage of Kerala’s temple traditions.
The festival begins with the ceremonial flag hoisting, known as Thirukodiyettu, marking the spiritual commencement of the celebrations. Throughout the festival days, the temple becomes filled with the chanting of Shiva mantras, devotional hymns, and sacred recitations that create a powerful spiritual atmosphere. Major rituals such as Ganapathi Homam, Kalashabhishekam, Bhasmabhishekam, Bhagavathi Seva, and special poojas dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi are performed with great devotion by temple priests and devotees.
One of the most attractive aspects of this festival is the cultural extravaganza that showcases Kerala’s traditional art forms. Performances such as Panchavadyam, Chenda Melam, Kathakali, Sopana Sangeetham, Naadan Pattu, Bhajans, and classical dance programs enrich the festive spirit. These art forms not only entertain but also preserve the cultural identity and spiritual essence of Kerala temple festivals.
The grand temple procession is another highlight, featuring decorated elephants, traditional percussion ensembles, oil lamps, and beautifully crafted floats that move through the surrounding areas with devotional energy. Devotees actively participate in offerings, Annadanam and various temple rituals making the festival a deeply communal and spiritual experience.
