The Kumbhabharani Thookam Mahotsavam 2026 at Kulathoor Phanumukham Devi Temple Trust in Trivandrum is one of the most revered and spectacular temple festivals in Kerala. Celebrated annually during the auspicious Kumbhabharani star, this festival is a vibrant expression of devotion, tradition and cultural heritage.
The festival typically spans 10 days starting from the 14th of February and concluding on the 23rd of February 2026 attracting thousands of devotees from across the state and beyond.
A central feature of the festival is the Nercha Thookkam, a unique ritual offering performed by devotees as a symbol of their devotion and fulfillment of vows. Participants guided by the temple priests undergo this sacred ritual with utmost reverence maintaining age old customs that have been passed down through generations. The ritual is accompanied by traditional temple music, percussion ensembles and ceremonial chants creating a spiritually charged atmosphere that resonates throughout the temple premises.
Another highlight is the Thrikodiyet, the ceremonial flag hoisting which marks the official beginning of the festivities.
