Amman Koda Utsavam at Sree Ujjaini Makali Amman Temple, Thiruvananthapuram is a grand and spiritually significant annual festival celebrated with deep devotion and traditional rituals. The temple dedicated to Goddess Makali Amman becomes a vibrant center of faith during this auspicious occasion drawing devotees from various parts of Kerala and neighboring states.
The festival is marked by elaborate poojas, homams, devotional offerings and special ceremonies conducted in accordance with age-old temple traditions. Devotees gather in large numbers to participate in rituals such as Ganapathi Homam, deeparadhana, pushpabhishekam and other sacred offerings to the Goddess. The atmosphere during the festival is filled with divine chants, devotional music and the rhythmic beats of traditional percussion ensembles like neyandi melam, which enhance the spiritual experience.
One of the highlights of the celebration is the community participation in annadanam where thousands of devotees are served food as a sacred offering. Cultural programs including villupattu, devotional songs and stage performances are also organized reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the region. These performances not only entertain but also convey spiritual messages and stories associated with the Goddess.
The temple premises are beautifully decorated creating a festive and divine ambiance that inspires devotion and unity among visitors.
