മീനഭരണി മഹോത്സവം 2026 കാപ്പിൽ ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം തിരുവനന്തപുരം | Meenabharani Mahotsavam 2026 Kappil Bhagavathy Temple Trivandrum
The Meenabharani Mahotsavam at Kappil Bhagavathy Temple in Trivandrum is one of the most vibrant and culturally rich temple festivals in Kerala. Dedicated to the fierce yet benevolent goddess Bhadrakali, the festival brings together devotees from across the region to celebrate divine blessings, community harmony and Kerala’s traditional art forms.
The temple itself situated in the northern boundary of Trivandrum district is renowned for its powerful spiritual presence and the Meenabharani festival transforms it into a hub of devotion, rituals and festivities.
The festival is marked by a wide range of sacred rituals performed meticulously by the temple priests including Ganapathi Homam, Kumkuma Abhishekam, Kalasha Pooja and Deepa Aradhana. Devotees participate in these rituals with deep faith, seeking protection, prosperity and spiritual upliftment.
A distinctive feature of the festival is the Thottampattu, a ritual song offering to the goddess, performed with traditional percussion and accompanied by folk melodies. Another highlight is the Kaikottikali, a graceful group dance performed by women which adds a vibrant cultural dimension to the religious celebrations.
Throughout the festival, the temple grounds are filled with a variety of cultural programs including folk theatre, musical performances and traditional dance forms. Community meals are offered to all devotees emphasizing the spirit of sharing and devotion. The festival also features Ashwathi Vilakku and Nedumkuthira, spectacular rituals that combine artistry, devotion and pageantry. The temple’s sacred spaces come alive with the rhythmic sounds of drums, the chanting of prayers and the fragrance of flowers and incense creating a deeply immersive spiritual experience.
