Kaivatta Guruthi is a deeply revered ritual conducted at Karichal Sree Devi Temple in Trivandrum dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali, the powerful and protective form of the Divine Mother.
This sacred ceremony holds great spiritual importance among devotees who seek protection, prosperity and divine intervention in their lives. Rooted in Kerala’s ancient temple traditions, the Guruthi ritual symbolizes the offering made to the attendant spirits of the Goddess as an act of devotion and surrender.
The ritual is traditionally performed after the Athazha Pooja and takes place at the sacred Thirunada area of the temple. The preparation of the Guruthi Kalam is an important part of the ceremony. A special mixture made from turmeric and lime is prepared to represent symbolic blood reflecting the traditional concept of Guruthi Tharpanam.
