The Kaliyoot Mahotsavam at Sree Arayalloor Devi Temple, Trivandrum is one of the most vibrant and spiritually significant festivals celebrated in Kerala. Rooted deeply in tradition, this festival is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali, the fierce and protective form of the Divine Mother who is worshipped for her power to vanquish evil and bring prosperity and well being to her devotees.
The festival is a grand showcase of Kerala’s rich cultural heritage, blending ritualistic fervor with spectacular artistic performances.
During the festival, the temple premises come alive with a series of elaborate rituals, traditional music and mesmerizing dances.
The highlight of the celebrations is the Kaliyoot ritual, a symbolic enactment of the battle between the Goddess and the demon king, representing the triumph of good over evil. This ritual performed with meticulous precision attracts devotees from across the region who come to witness the ceremonial fervor and participate in the collective devotion.
In addition to the Kaliyoot performance, the festival features a variety of cultural programs such as classical music concerts, traditional dance performances and folk art displays reflecting the artistic richness of Kerala. The temple also hosts special poojas and offerings where devotees seek the blessings of the Goddess for health, prosperity and protection from negative energies.
