Annual Festival | Chackai Sri Balasubramaniya Swami Temple Thiruvananthapuram
Managed by the Chackai Sri Balasubramaniya Swami Temple Charitable Trust, the temple is deeply rooted in traditional Kerala temple customs and spiritual discipline. The presence of associated deities such as Sri Shakti Vinayaka Swami enhances its sacred significance. The temple is well known for its vibrant annual festival, marked by rituals such as Thirukodiyettu, Kavadi processions, and Agni Kavadi, which attract devotees from across the region. It stands as a spiritual and cultural centre fostering devotion, unity, and tradition.

This annual festival is conducted in remembrance of revered Gurus and is marked by traditional rituals, grand processions, and deep devotional observances.
Festival Schedule & Highlights
Day 1 – Flag Hoisting (First Utsavam)
Date: 26 January 2026
Thirukodiyettu (Flag Hoisting): Between 12:09 PM and 12:32 PM, during the auspicious muhurtham.
Day 2 – Second Utsavam
Date: 27 January 2026
Lighting of the Mahakali Nata Bhadradeepam.
Day 3 – Third Utsavam
Date: 28 January 2026
Special offerings to Bhairava Swamy, Madan Thampuran, and
Mohini Yakshi Amma, including Valiya Padukka.
Procession Time: Around 7:15 PM.
From this year onwards, Sri Shakti Vinayaka Swami will also participate in the procession along with the main deity, symbolizing divine sibling unity. The procession covers major roads and temples around Chackai before returning to the temple premises.
Day 4 – Fourth Utsavam
Date: 29 January 2026
Evening: Grand Thiru Ezhunnallathu (Holy Procession) in surrounding areas.

Important Instructions for Kavadi Devotees
- Wearing saffron attire is mandatory
- Weapons like Vel or staffs are strictly prohibited
- External kavadi or percussion without Trust permission is not allowed
- Agni Kavadi tokens must be collected from the temple
- Children below 15 years are not permitted for Agni Kavadi
- Consent forms are mandatory for Vel & Agni Kavadi participants
