Thiruvathira Maholsavam
Thiruvathira Maholsavam at Venkode Chittat Bhagavathy Temple in Palayamkunnu, Varkala, Thiruvananthapuram, is celebrated during the month of Kumbham with traditional fervor. The festival includes Thrikkodiyettu, a ceremonial flag hoisting marking the commencement, followed by Pongala, where devotees prepare a sweet rice dish in earthen pots as an offering to the goddess. Annadanam, the distribution of food, is conducted to all devotees, and the festival concludes with Arattu, a ceremonial procession where the deity is ritually bathed to purify and bless the surroundings.
Noorum Paalum Oottu
Noorum Paalum Oottu is a ritual practiced for mental well-being, physical recovery, and to appease distressed Nagas. Initiated by Lord Parashurama, it involves offering a mixture of rice flour and milk to alleviate Naga Dosha, whether incurred intentionally or unintentionally. This ritual is believed to cleanse individuals of sins associated with Nagas and promote spiritual and physical healing.
