The place derives its name from the deity worshipped here, Lord Shiva, represented in the form of a Shivalinga. Adjacent to the main shrine, there is a separate shrine dedicated to Goddess Parvathi, and another for Lord Ganapathi.

Bhagavatha Sapthaha Yajnam
During the annual festival at the Sri Chakrathil Siva Temple in Venpakal, Thiruvananthapuram, a Bhagavatha Sapthaha Yajnam is conducted. This is a traditional Vedic ritual that spans seven days and involves the recitation of the Bhagavata Purana, a sacred text that narrates the life and teachings of Lord Krishna. Devotees gather to listen to the recitation, which is believed to purify the surroundings, invoke divine blessings, and spread spiritual knowledge and harmony.
