This temple holds profound spiritual significance as its consecration (Prathishta) was personally performed by the revered social reformer and spiritual leader, Sree Narayana Guru. The Shivling was consecrated on March 28, 1915 CE (Kollavarsham 1090, Meenam 15). The temple's association with Sree Narayana Guru underscores its importance as a center for spiritual upliftment and the propagation of his universal message of "One Caste, One Religion, One God for Man." Mondays are considered particularly auspicious for worship here, and the shrine also observes Pradosham.

Festivals

The Temple has a number of festivals. The important ones are :

Mahashivaratri

Mahashivaratri stands as the paramount festival celebrated at Sree Njaneswara Temple. Occurring in the Malayalam month of Kumbham (typically February-March), this auspicious night is dedicated to Lord Shiva, marked by fervent prayers, elaborate rituals, and devotional observances by a multitude of devotees.

Pradosham

While not an annual mega-festival, Pradosham is a significant bi-monthly observance at the temple. These are specific twilight periods on the 12th or 13th day of a lunar fortnight, considered highly sacred for worshipping Lord Shiva, and special prayers are offered.
