The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali (Amman) a fierce yet protective form of the Mother Goddess, worshipped for removing negative influences and ensuring the well-being of devotees. The temple reflects typical Kerala/Tamil temple architecture with a sanctum under a tiled roof, simple wooden halls, and daily rituals like abhishekam, pushpanjali, and deepa aradhana, conducted by local priests. It likely serves as a cultural hub for Plamoottukada, with festivals, offerings, and community gatherings centered around the deity’s grace.
Festivals
The Temple has a number of festivals. The important ones are :
Navaratri Pooja
Navaratri is one of the most significant festivals observed at the temple, lasting for nine days. It is dedicated to the worship of Goddess Bhadrakali and her various forms. During this festival, the temple is adorned with colorful decorations, and special rituals and prayers are performed daily.
Kumbha Bharani / Temple Utsavam
Though specific records are limited, temples of this kind typically observe an annual utsavam in Kumbham (February–March) on the Bharani star day marked by special pujas, processions, communal feasts, and temple rituals in honor of the Devi.
