Unique to this temple is its serene ambiance surrounded by trees such as Al, Palm, and Koovalam, enhancing its natural beauty. Besides Goddess Durga, the temple also houses sub-deities including Ganapati, Bhadrakali, Madan Tampuran, Yakshiamma, and Nagaraja.
With a history spanning approximately three centuries, legend has it that initially, the goddess was worshipped on the horn of a calamansi. Subsequently, devout locals constructed the southern side and performed the Peetha Pratishtha ritual, followed by restoration works and idol dedications.
Festivals
The Temple has a number of festivals. The important ones are :
Kartika Mahotsavam
The Kartika Mahotsavam stands as the primary festival at the Mannamkonam Sree Bhagavathy Temple, celebrated during the auspicious Meena month. Lasting for three days, this vibrant festival culminates under the Kartika Nakshatra. Devotees gather in large numbers to partake in various rituals, prayers, and cultural festivities honoring Goddess Sri Durga and the divine energies of the Kartika Nakshatra.
Pongala
One of the primary offerings at Mannamkonam Sree Bhagavathy Temple is the Pongala. While devotees have the opportunity to offer Pongala on the first days of every Malayalam month and other auspicious puja days, the festival's highlight is the Pongala ceremony held on the Kartika Nakshatra in the month of Pisces. On this auspicious day, numerous worshippers flock to the temple to participate in the Pongala ritual, symbolizing their devotion and seeking blessings from the goddess.
