
The presiding deity of Sree Mangaleswary Devi Kshethram, also known as Edava Palakkavu Bhagavathi Temple, is Goddess Bhadrakali, revered as an avatar of Palakkavilamma, with Karthika being the star associated with the deity. This revered institution stands as one of the most ancient temples in South India, holding immense religious significance for its devotees. Beyond the primary deity, the temple complex also houses numerous upadevathas, including Goddess Annapoorna, Lord Ganesh, Navagraham, Lord Adithyan (Sun), Lord Hanuman, Brahmarakshas, Yogeswaran, and Naga Deities, enriching the spiritual experience for visitors. Festivals
The Temple has a number of festivals. The important ones are :
Navaratri Pooja
Navaratri is one of the most significant festivals observed at the temple, lasting for nine days. It is dedicated to the worship of Goddess Bhadrakali and her various forms. During this festival, the temple is adorned with colorful decorations, and special rituals and prayers are performed daily.
Karthika Thirunaal Mahothsavam
This is the primary festival of the temple, occurring during the Karthika Nakshatra in the Malayalam month of Kumbham, spanning 10 days. Festivities culminate with the Ghosayathra (procession) and Ezhunnallathu (ritual procession). It starts with a variety of cultural and traditional programs, and each day is filled with vibrant celebrations.
