Mahashivaratri at Kusakode Sree Mahadevar Temple is a deeply revered and elaborate celebration dedicated to Lord Shiva. The festivities begin with the Ganapathi Homam, a ritual invoking Lord Ganesha for the successful completion of the ceremonies. Devotees engage in Ahoratra Akhandanamajapam, a continuous chant of Shivas name, filling the temple with a profound spiritual ambiance. The celebrations also include Annadanam, the distribution of food to all attendees, and the offering of Unniyappom as a special nivedhyam to the deity, symbolizing devotion and community spirit.
