Ulsava Mahamaham
The Ulsava Mahamaham festival, celebrated at the Kunnumala Bhagavathy Temple in Puravoor, Chirayinkeezhu, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, during the Malayalam month of Kumbham, is a grand occasion marked by elaborate rituals and festivities. The festival culminates in the Thrikkodiyett Thiruarattu, a sacred procession where the deity of Goddess Bhagavathy is taken out of the temple in a colorful procession and immersed in nearby water bodies.
Makayira Pongala
The Makayira Pongala is a significant ritual observed at the Kunnumala Bhagavathy Temple in Puravoor, Chirayinkeezhu, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, during the Malayalam month of Kumbham. During this auspicious occasion, devotees gather to prepare a special offering known as Pongala, consisting of rice, jaggery, coconut, and other ingredients, cooked in earthen pots.
