Festivals

The Temple has a number of festivals. The important ones are :

Navaratri Maholsavam

Navaratri Maholsavam, also known as Navaratri Festival, is a grand celebration observed for nine days in honor of the divine feminine energy, Devi, in her various forms such as Durga, Lakshmi, and Saraswati. This auspicious festival is celebrated with great fervor and devotion across India and is particularly significant in Kerala. During Navaratri Maholsavam, devotees engage in prayers, fasting, and rituals to seek the blessings of the goddess for prosperity, happiness, and spiritual enlightenment.

Thookkam Mahotsavam

Thookkam Maholsavam is indeed a traditional ritual observed in certain Hindu temples, especially in Kerala. During the ceremony, known as Nercha Thookkam, a child symbolically representing a devotee is handed over to a person known as devi dasan. This child then hangs from a structure called Thookka villu, securely tied by a Kacha (rope), and rises into the sky resembling a mythical bird known as Krishnapparunthu, spreading wings of devotion (Bhakthi). This ritual is deeply symbolic and is believed to invoke the blessings and divine grace of the deity, fostering a profound spiritual connection among devotees.
