Chothi Maholsavam
Chothi Maholsavam on Kumbham includes various significant rituals and celebrations. The festival features Pournami Pongala, a special offering of sweet rice to the goddess, and Vilakku, a ceremonial lighting of lamps. Key rituals include Ganapathi Homam to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha, Thalapoli, a traditional offering of lighted coconut husks, Deeparadhana, a worship with lights, and Nagaroottu, a special ritual dedicated to snakes. Additionally, Mrityunjaya Homam is performed for protection and longevity, while Kalasham and Kalabham involve the worship of sacred pots and offerings.
Vinayaka Chathurthi
Vinayaka Chathurthi in Chingam month features a special celebration dedicated to Lord Ganesha. The festival includes Ashtadravya Ganapathi Homam, where Ashtadravya, a sacred offering made of eight essential ingredients, is prepared and presented to Lord Ganesha. This offering is part of the Ashta Dravya Mahaganapathy Homam, intended to invoke blessings of wealth, prosperity, and longevity from Lord Ganesha. The celebration also includes Vilakku, a ceremonial lighting of lamps, to honor and seek the divine grace of the deity.
