Annual Festival
The annual festival of the Sree Mahadeva Temple in Poojappura, Thiruvananthapuram, observed in the Malayalam month of Medam (April/May), commences with a grand flag hoisting ceremony. Throughout the festival, the shrine is adorned with traditional decorations including plantain, coconut leaves, flowers, and lamps. Special poojas, offerings, and annadanam (food distribution) are conducted daily, accompanied by traditional music, dance, and cultural performances.
Maha Shivaratri
Maha Shivaratri, celebrated annually, is a significant Hindu festival dedicated to Lord Shiva. Devotees observe fasting, perform rituals, and offer prayers throughout the night, seeking the blessings of Lord Shiva for spiritual growth and prosperity. The festival holds great spiritual significance, symbolizing the overcoming of darkness and ignorance by the divine light of Shiva consciousness.
