Karthika Mahotsavam
The Karthika Mahotsavam at Azhoor Bhagavathy Temple in Azhoor, Thiruvananthapuram, is a grand festival celebrated during the month of Meenam, particularly on the auspicious day of Karthika Nal, considered the birth day of the Goddess. Devotees observe the Meena Karthika Mahotsavam with fervor, offering special prayers and rituals to honor the Goddess.The celebration of Karthika Maholsavam spans seven days, marking a period of spiritual fervor and divine grace.

The Thookkam Nercha, particularly the Garudan Thookkam, stands as the most significant offering by devotees at Azhoor Bhagavathy Temple. By encircling the temple while hanging onto the Villu, devotees believe that the merciful Goddess will alleviate their sorrows. This act is accompanied by a seven-day fast and continuous prayers, with three variations of Thookkam available Pullaketti Thookkam, where children below five are tied and hanged by elder devotees, Alankara Thookkam, which involves beautifully decorating the Villu, and Ordinary Thookkam.
