Aswathy Pongala Maholsavam

Aswathy Pongala Maholsavam, held at temples like Vellayani Devi Temple on the Aswathy Nakshatra day of Meenam (March-April), begins with the Kodimaram Ghoshayatra, a ceremonial flag procession signifying the festival's start. Devotees, especially women, light hearths to prepare the sacred Pongala offering, accompanied by Mahamrityunjaya Homam, Bhagavathi Seva, Ganapathy Homam, Annadanam, Thalapoli, and the grand Pongala ritual to seek divine blessings.

Ayilyam Pooja

Ayilyam Pooja is a special ritual observed in many temples across Kerala on the day of Ayilyam Nakshatra each Malayalam month, dedicated to Nagaraja, Nagayakshi, and other serpent deities. Devotees perform special poojas, abhishekam, turmeric offerings, and flower garlands at serpent shrines (sarpakavu) to seek blessings for prosperity, fertility, protection from doshas (especially Sarpa Dosha), and family well-being.
