Thiruvutsavam 2026 at Thiruvambady Temple, Thrissur will be celebrated from February 28 to March 7 with Sahasrakalasham from February 22–27, Prathishta Day for Lord Krishna on February 20 and Prathishta Day for Goddess Bhagavati on March 27 featuring grand poojas, cultural programs and the Aarattu procession.

Thiruvutsavam at Thiruvambady Temple, Thrissur is one of the most vibrant and revered temple festivals in Kerala celebrated with grandeur, devotion and rich cultural traditions. The festival is dedicated to Lord Krishna and Goddess Bhagavati drawing thousands of devotees from across the state and beyond. The festival begins with the flag hoisting ceremony symbolizing the formal commencement of the celebrations. Leading up to the main festival, the Sahasrakalasham is conducted, a sacred ritual involving a thousand kalashams filled with holy items and offered with devotion. This period is filled with poojas, homams and various rituals that purify the temple and the hearts of devotees. Special Prathishta Days for Lord Krishna and Goddess Bhagavati are celebrated with elaborate ceremonies marking the installation and worship of the deities with grandeur and reverence.

During the festival, the temple premises come alive with traditional art forms such as Thayambaka, Panchari Melam, Kathakali and Mohiniyattam performed by accomplished artists and schools. Devotees witness the rhythmic beats of drums, harmonious melodies of wind instruments, and the vibrant storytelling through classical dance forms. The evenings are filled with devotional music, dance performances and cultural presentations that highlight Kerala’s rich heritage. The culmination of the festival is the Aarattu procession, a ceremonial ritual where the deities are taken for a holy bath accompanied by elephants, traditional percussion ensembles and an enthusiastic crowd of devotees. Throughout the festival, prasadam is distributed to devotees, and opportunities are provided for sponsorship of poojas and rituals allowing participants to contribute to the grandeur of the celebrations.
