Prathishta Dina Mahotsavam at Sree Uthralikkavu Bhagavathi Temple is one of the most significant annual temple festivals celebrated with deep devotion and cultural grandeur in Kerala.
This sacred occasion marks the consecration of the deity and is observed with traditional rituals attracting thousands of devotees from across Thrissur and nearby regions.
The festival begins with early morning rituals such as Nirmalya Darshan, followed by Usha Pooja, Navakam and other important ceremonial offerings that create a spiritually charged atmosphere.
One of the major highlights is the grand procession with caparisoned elephants accompanied by Panchari Melam showcasing Kerala’s rich temple traditions and artistic heritage. The rhythmic beats of traditional percussion instruments like chenda, maddalam and ilathalam fill the temple premises with divine energy and festive spirit.
Devotees actively participate in offering prayers, lighting lamps and receiving prasadam during the sacred feast known as Prasada Oottu which symbolizes unity and devotion. Evening rituals such as Deeparadhana, Niramala and Chuttuvilakku illuminate the temple in a divine glow followed by cultural performances and traditional art forms that reflect Kerala’s vibrant heritage.
