The festival is unique in that it not only emphasizes traditional rituals and temple observances but also gives prominence to tantric ceremonies performed by skilled priests ensuring a perfect blend of devotion and sacred rites. During this time, the temple becomes a center of spiritual energy as devotees from across the region gather to witness the divine presence of the mother deity, Urakathamma and partake in the sacred festivities.
The festival is marked by a series of elaborate rituals, processions and cultural performances showcasing the rich heritage of Kerala’s temple traditions. Devotees are granted the rare opportunity to witness the deity being taken out of the sanctum sanctorum, a moment that symbolizes divine grace and blessings.
