Alongside the main deity, Lord Shiva, the temple also enshrines Chaturbahu Vishnu, Durga Bhagavathy, Ganesha in Kannimula within the Nalampalam, and the rare depiction of Shasta on a pedestal.
A distinctive feature of this temple is the Tirthathakulam, a sacred pond within the temple walls that never dries up, even during droughts.
Festivals
The Temple has a number of festivals. The important ones are :
Maha Sarpabali
Maha Sarpabali is a significant and powerful tantric puja dedicated to Lord Nagaraja, conducted on the Ashlesha Nakshatra (Ayyilyam star). This ritual involves the worship of 54 divine snakes, including Lord Shiva's Vasuki and Lord Vishnu's Adisesha, to counteract the adverse effects of Sarpa Dosha. Devotees participate in this sacred ceremony to seek relief from skin diseases and to eradicate negative influences, invoking the blessings and protection of the serpent deities for health and prosperity.
Navaratri Festival
During the Navaratri festival at Thripekulam Shiva Temple, significant rituals such as Saraswathi Pooja, Mahanavami, and Vijayadashami are celebrated with devotion. Saraswathi Pooja is dedicated to Goddess Saraswathi, where students place their books and instruments at her feet, seeking blessings for wisdom. After the pooja, ghee is given to students, believed to aid in their studies and concentration.
