The main deity worshipped here is Lord Shiva, revered as Mahadeva. According to the Shiva Purana, Lord Shiva once wandered seeking alms, and his alms bowl filled up at this spot, leading to the place being called Niramangalam (Niranja Man kalam).
This temple is thus named Niramangalam Mahadeva Temple and holds great significance for devotees.

Gaja Pooja
Gaja Pooja is a special ceremony performed to honor the elephant, which personifies the divine traits of Lord Ganesha. It is a rarely performed ritual at the Niramangalam Mahadeva Temple in Vadakkanchery, Thrissur. Additionally, Anayoottu, the feeding of elephants, is conducted as part of the temple's unique offerings and Ashta dravya ganapathi homam is performed.
Pradosha Pooja
Pradosh Vrat is considered to be the most beneficial fast for attaining health, wealth, and children. At Niramangalam Mahadeva Temple, Pradosha Pooja is observed with great devotion, liberating devotees from all past and present sins. The ritual includes special abhishekam, deeparadhana, and chanting of sacred hymns, drawing many devotees to seek blessings from Lord Shiva during this auspicious time.
