The festival begins with Kodiyettam, the ceremonial flag hoisting, marking the commencement of the festivities. Parayidal, a ritual offering of grains, and Maavilakku Ezhunnallath, a grand procession with traditional lamps, are key highlights of the celebration, drawing numerous devotees to seek the blessings of Goddess Mariyamman.
