Lord Shiva had a son in Parvathy Devi, who disguised as Koolivaaka. Parvathy Devi gave birth to that child and assigned a baby buffalo for his protection. Lord Shiva returns to Kailasa and instructs Parvathy Devi to bless this infant and give him to Koolivaaka. This infant is Lord Vishnumaya.
