The temple complex also includes sub-shrines dedicated to Lord Ganapathi, Lord Ayyappan, Lord Shiva, and the Serpent deities, making it a spiritually significant destination for devotees.
The riverside adjacent to the temple is widely known as a sacred place for performing ancestral rites and rituals. Families from various parts of Kerala come here to conduct Bali Tarpanam and other ceremonies for their departed loved ones. A crematorium managed jointly by the Ivor Madom Trust and the Thiruvilwamala Grama Panchayat also functions near the temple grounds. According to legend, this is the holy site where the Pandavas sought relief after the Kurukshetra war. They performed prayers and Bali Tarpanam for their teachers and relatives who perished in the battle. The sacred waters of Bharathappuzha are believed to have purified them of their emotional burden and sins. The name “Ivor Madom,” meaning “the abode of the five,” reflects this connection to the Pandavas. Even today, countless devotees visit the temple to perform rituals and seek spiritual solace.
