Lord Vishnu (Guruvayurappan), popularly known as Krishna, is the principal deity worshipped at the Guruvayur Sreekrishna Temple. The central idol depicts a four-armed Vishnu holding the conch Panchajanya, the discus Sudarshana, the mace Kaumodaki, and a lotus with a tulasi garland.The temple's sub-deities include Ganapathi, Ayyappan, and Bhagavathi, and there are two sub-temples nearby, one for Ganapati and the other for Nagadevathas.

The temple tank, known as Rudratheertham, is located on the northern side of the temple. According to legend, Lord Shiva, also known as Rudra, used to bathe on the southern bank of this pond for thousands of years, which led to the pond being named Rudratheertham.

Guruvayur Ekadasi
Ekadasi, observed on the 11th day of the shukla paksha (bright fortnight) in the month of Vrischikam, is one of the major festivals at the Guruvayur Sreekrishna Temple. This special day is popularly known as Guruvayur Ekadasi and holds significant religious importance for devotees. On this occasion, the temple is adorned with lights and flowers, and numerous devotees gather to participate in various rituals, fasting, and special prayers dedicated to Lord Krishna.
Vishu
Vishu is celebrated with great fervor at the Guruvayur Sreekrishna Temple on the first day of the month of Medam, marking the traditional New Year in Kerala. Originally a harvest festival, Vishu symbolizes prosperity and is an occasion for auspicious beginnings. Devotees visit the temple to view the Vishukkani, an arrangement of auspicious items, and offer prayers to Lord Krishna, seeking blessings for a prosperous year ahead.
