Kumbha Bharani Maholsavam
The Kumbha Bharani Maholsavam at Chennamkulangara Bhagavathy Temple in Chittissery, Mukundapuram Taluk, Thrissur District, is a vibrant festival held in the Malayalam month of Kumbham (February-March) to honor Goddess Bhadrakali. A major highlight is the Ezhunnallathu procession, featuring traditional music, drummers, and caparisoned elephants, where the deity is ceremoniously carried around the temple. The festival also includes special poojas, homams, and the offering of Pongala, along with cultural performances, creating an atmosphere of joy and devotion.
Ashtadravya Maha Ganapathi Homam
During the month of Karkkidakam, the Chennamkulangara Bhagavathy Temple hosts the Ashtadravya Maha Ganapathi Homam, a significant ritual that involves the offering of eight sacred substances to Lord Ganesha to invoke his blessings for prosperity and the removal of obstacles. Additionally, the temple conducts Anayoottu, a ceremonial feeding of elephants, which is a grand event attracting many devotees who participate in the rituals and witness the majestic elephants being honored and nourished.
