Prathishta Dinam
On Prathishta Dinam, celebrated during the Mithunam month under the Atham star at Sree Changamkulangara Bhadrakali Temple, various sacred rituals are performed. The day begins with Ganapathi Homam to invoke the blessings of Lord Ganesha, followed by Kalasha Abhishekam and Navakam, where the deities are bathed with sanctified water. The celebrations also include Nagapooja, Deeparadhana, and Niramala, concluding with Prasadam Oottu, where blessed food is distributed to the devotees.
Pongala
At Sree Changamkulangara Bhadrakali Temple, the Pongala for Goddess Bhadrakali is celebrated with great fervor during the Makaram month. Devotees prepare special offerings, known as Pongala, in earthen pots, which typically include sweet rice porridge made with rice, jaggery, and coconut. The ritual symbolizes devotion and is performed by women who gather in large numbers to cook and offer these preparations to the Goddess, seeking her blessings for prosperity and well-being.
