Theeyattu Mahotsavam at Thevalassery Mahadevi Temple, Pathanamthitta is a vibrant and spiritually uplifting festival that beautifully reflects the rich cultural and ritualistic heritage of Kerala. Dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali, the presiding deity of the temple, this sacred celebration is marked by a series of traditional ceremonies, devotional offerings and captivating artistic performances that draw devotees and visitors from across the region.
One of the most significant highlights of the festival is the ritual of Theeyattu, a unique temple art form that combines storytelling, music, and sacred performance. Rooted in ancient traditions, Theeyattu is performed by trained artists who invoke the divine presence of the Goddess through rhythmic chants, symbolic gestures and ritualistic fire elements.
